Good morning Steve, yes you can easily reverse by hand when you cross over threads, been there and done that many times. The metal foot pedal that comes with it now is much better than the original plastic pedal that came with the first shipment of G2 wrappers. I had the plastic pedal and Mudhole sent out the new metal pedal about a month and a half after I got the wrapper. I ended up taking the cord from the plastic pedal and using it for a light switch in a plastic project box so I can run epoxy at speed without being on the foot pedal all the time.

I suppose the another ? is like the slip clutch where you can stop it by hand without turning the motor off is this capable of doing that. Can you adapt / attach the slip clutch the head motor. I'm finding it hard to find / get information i need to make a decision. How do you like the whole setup overall, Is it the best on the market, We can't get it here on Oz so i'd have to import it, the problem there is spare parts etc. Thanks Tom, really appreciate your time and information Cheers Steve

@@Stevos_HookedonRods4844 hey Steve, it is not a slip clutch for the headstock unfortunately. I am not sure if there are any rod building lathes that have that feature. I’m not sure if it’s the best on the market but it does a damn fine job. I think I would enjoy the setup more if I had the adjustable roller stands with the ball bearings. I bought the track and V stands a while back when the older G1 system was back ordered (discontinued, but they didn’t want to say that). Then when the G2 came out I bought just the motor and foot pedal assembly, not the whole kit with the track and stands.

Yes sir, with Mr Ivan Williams, just visited him down at his new home near Lake of the Ozarks a couple weeks ago. That Lynx ate up the rough water. I've been in the new Puma STS and that is a serious rough water machine too. I run a P2 right now but I think if the time ever comes when I can buy a new one, the new Caracal STS is about as perfect as it gets for the way I fish.

Hey Brent, I do indeed bring a lot of stuff. But at the same time I am always adjusting to the conditions and have multiple rods with different baits tied on. Sometimes you just get a feeling and want to throw something else quick. I’ve moved up to a BassCat Pantera 2 at this point but still have the little white Lund. On a typical trip I have 20+ rods and 10-15 plano 3700 boxes, along with several gallon bags of various plastics. I typically spend 60-75 days on the boat each season so I try to stay on the patterns that are working and always trying to find something else that will catch them. All part of the fun.

Orientation does not matter in perspective mode. Tried, tested, works flawlessly. Been running it like this for over a year. Cheaper than the Garmin perspective view mount, adjustable, it does everything I need it to do. I’ve shot videos looking at dock structure and fish, as well as my lure working thru the water. Last summer I was able to focus in to a rock spine about 5’ wide, spot fish and cast a crankbait at them in 16’ of water using this mount setup.

Learned something new! Thanks. Do you have a “can’t” angle like the garmin one? I think it’s 8 degree offset. They say it’s to cut back on the double echos.

@@2cthetruth honestly I think the 8 degree offset that Garmin uses with their perspective mount is to limit the amount of surface commotion that shows up. I have done some tests where I position the transducer almost exactly level for fishing super shallow water down on ponds in Arkansas and you can actually see the wind driven ripples and waves on the surface in perspective view. If you rock the boat you can see the ripples from the boat on the surface. With my setup I can angle it down to fish deep water and see pockets in a weed edge, or I can flatten it out and look for stuff just under the surface. I did a perspective mode test on suspended crappies thru the ice, shooting the ducer down at fish suspended 15 feet off the bottom in 40 feet of water. I could easily see what direction the school was moving and it worked better than trying to figure out their direction with forward view. The only thing visible on the screen was the school of crappies. I have a video of that on youtube as well. It was really really cool and the very first time I had the unit out with perspective mode after the update in March of 2020.
